Our Brake swapping process includes the following steps:
1. After the vehicle is brought into the shop, start by checking the brake fluid levels using a brake fluid bleeder and topping off as needed.
2. Remove the existing brake pads from the caliper, noting any wear or damage found.
3. Clean the rotors and calipers, lubricating the slide pins with either a silicone or DOT 3 brake lubricant.
4. Install the new pads on the caliper and adjust for proper fit with the rotor.
5. Replace any old or worn out hardware including clips, springs or pins.
6. Replace the rotors as needed and clean with brake cleaner.
7. Inspect the condition of the brake lines, hoses and master cylinder before reinstalling.
8. Reinstall the brake lines and hoses, ensuring they are properly routed and connected.
9. Perform a bench bleed test on the master cylinder to remove any air in the system.
10. Bleed the brakes at the wheels until clear fluid exits.
11. Check the brake lines for proper pressure with a brake pressure gauge.
12. Test drive the vehicle and make sure all repairs are complete, double checking for leaks or other malfunctions.
13. Double check all brakes, fluid levels and torque specs with a digital torque wrench.
14. Place the vehicle in a secure parking stall and store all used parts, tools and supplies properly.
15. Follow up with a final inspection and road test to ensure all repairs were effective and successful.
